Home Oxygen Concentrators – Which One to Buy in India?

It is always important to take a deep breath and relax once in a while. Deep breathing for just two minutes a day can help us to stabilize our blood pressure, lower our resting heart rate and even elevate our mood. However, for those suffering from COPD or other respiratory disorders, breathing itself becomes a struggle. Most of those suffering from COPD also need to use supplemental oxygen to ensure that they can get enough oxygen into their blood.

Using an oxygen concentrator for supplemental oxygen

An oxygen concentrator extracts pure oxygen from the ambient air and provides it to the patient through a nasal cannula, helping them breathe better. Devices such as the OxyPure 5L or the Devilbiss 5L help these patients breathe better and be comfortable.

Choosing the right device for your needs

However, with the range of devices available today, how does one choose?

We decided to interview our customers and find out what made the device they use to stand out. The three 5L stationary oxygen concentrator in this comparison are OxyPure 5L, Philips EverFlo 5L and Devilbiss 5L.

1. User-friendliness

Easy-to-use controls are as important as all other factors combined. The OxyPure is a simple, easy-to-read LCD that allows all patients and caregivers to easily see machine status at all times. Chosen over the display of EverFlo and Devilbiss by 60% of our customers, OxyPure is a clear winner when it comes to ease of use.

Winner: OxyPure 5L

2. Reliability

All of these devices come with a 3-year warranty and long service intervals. These devices do not require maintenance for 2 years but come with a recommended 6-monthly service to ensure oxygen quality at all times due to varying air quality in the region that you stay at. Dusty or highly polluted regions may require more frequent maintenance.

3. Weight

Patients who can move around the house often have to move their oxygen concentrator from one room to another. With their bodies often being frail, moving heavy equipment becomes a challenge and every KG counts. At 14kg, the Everflo is nearly 1kg lighter than OxyPure and nearly 2kg lighter than Devilbiss 5L. With its low weight compared to the competition, EverFlo 5L outshined the competition. But that doesn’t matter much as these are stationary Oxygen Concentrators for home use.

Winner: Tie

4. Dimensions

Devilbiss 5L is a tall machine measuring 62.2cm x 34.2cm x 30.4cm. EverFlo measures 58.4cm x 38.1cm x 24.1cm, however, OxyPure is just 37cm x 33cm x 58cm, making the device much more suitable to be stashed under a table when not in use. The lower height of the OxyPure also makes it easy for it to be stored upright in car boots and is easier to carry around.

Winner: OxyPure 5L

5. Sound

When you’re unwell, all you really need is a good night’s rest to make you feel better the next day. The OxyPure wins hands down with noise levels being controlled under 40dBA, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Devilbiss and Everflo 5L are much noisier machines, with sound levels exceeding 48dBA & 45 dBA.

Winner: OxyPure 5L

6. Oxygen output pressure

With an outlet pressure of 5.5psi, the EverFlo has the lowest air pressure of the three. The DeVilbiss and OxyPure have the highest, at 8.5psi. However, our machine of choice here is the OxyPure 5L because it is the quietest machine of the 3 when tested at low, medium or high output levels. With an output of 8.5psi, this machine sits at par with DeVilbiss 5L but is smaller and quieter.

Winner: OxyPure 5L

7. Cost

Upfront costs matter. With OxyPure offering a better price to features ratio when compared to EverFlo and DeVilbiss 5L, it is the machine of choice for customers who want the maximum value for their money while ensuring quality, reliability and trust. With over a decade of trust and a total commitment to patient health and product quality, OxyPure by Sanrai is the clear winner here.

Winner: OxyPure 5L
